WHAT: 2017 Nowruz Festival

WHEN: Sunday, March 12 from 10 AM to 6 PM

WHERE: Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Rd, Tysons Corner, VA 22102

Held at Tysons Corner Center outside of Bloomingdales, The Nowruz Festival is a the largest complimentary event for the Iranian-American community that celebrates the Persian New Year. The event is held in every March and has more than 10,000 attendees.

It draws people from Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey and other countries who celebrate Nowruz as well as Americans who are interested in knowing more about Iranian culture, traditions, arts, crafts and foods.

The grand outdoor festival that celebrates the Persian New Year includes more than six hours of live performances, including music, dance, live characters, local artists, as well as a Nowruz Bazaar with dozens of booths selling a variety of Haft-Sin items and sprouts, Persian traditional sweets and pastries, crafts, and fresh
and hot food.

This event has been featured by local media every year and has been known as the runner-up for Best Cultural Festival by The Washington City Paper.

Shohreh Asemi announces 6th Nowruz Festival at Tysons Corner Center (McLean, VA)

Many Persian-American artists, musicians, singers, dancers, comedians and traditional character players, along with more than 60 booths offering exotic foods, jewelry, crafts, books, goods and products, will engage in the Persian New Year Arrival Celebration at sixth-annual event on Sunday, March 12, 2017 (11am-5pm).

Shohreh Asemi, well known Persian-American stage actress, journalist, TV producer and the host and founder of Nowruz Festival Organization, has announced the names of more than 50 musicians, vocalists, dancers and DJs, along with the names of more than 75 artists, jewelry-craft makers, food providers, goods and vendors who will participate in this years’ Nowruz Festival.

Entering its fourth year, the Nowruz Festival continues to hold true to its mission to celebrate and keep alive the ancient, historical and most important Persian celebration.

It all takes place in the Tyson’s corner Center. The festival becomes vibrant theater, gallery, classroom and bazaar to learn, discover and enjoy the Persian art, music, dance, food and spring arrival traditions and celebrations.

“The festival was one of the most successful events in the area,” said the Festival Organizer, Shohreh Asemi. “The fourth Nowruz Festival marks another year of continued motivation, celebration and success. All the artists, musicians, performers, business owners and food, goods, and product providers whom are participating share in our vision of honoring and celebrating Persian traditions and culture. Everyone leaves this festival inspired to admire and give the deserved respect to Iran’s long and rich history and culture.”

Asemi added, “I am very excited about the fifth Nowruz Festival. This huge on-street event takes the normal Persian celebrations to the next level. This year we plan to go above and beyond to encourage all citizens to join and enjoy the tradition, while learning more about real Iran and its real people and culture.”

The event will be held on Sunday, March 12, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in Tysons Corner Center (8100 Tysons Corner Center), McLean, VA. Entertainment begins at 11:00 am.
